How to add unique identifier to MapInfo Table

In some cases we need to add a new column to a MapInfo table that contains unique numbers or characters. With the help of Encom Discover, we can add a special column contains unique identified. This tutorial is going to show you How to add unique identifier to MapInfo Table.

Open the table and go to Discover | Table Utilities | Add unique identifier

Specify the input table from the list. On the UID Type select Numeric or Alpha numeric. If you choose numeric, you must specify the start number (i.e 1) and increment (i.e 1). Change this number accordingly.

On the UID filed, type field if you want to add new field or column to the table. Place the column either after or before the existing field. Press OK when done.
