GIS Tutorial - Today I will show you how to create a new project on Datamine Studio. I am using Datamine Studio EM version 2.1. Datamine Studio is a great software for exploration and mining. Before we can use Datamine, we need to create a new project.

Steps to create new project on Datamine

To create a new project, first open the Datamine Studio. On start menu, click New project.

Then, the project creation wizard will opened. Click next on the first step

Now enter a new project name and the project location.

Finally, click Finish and the new project is now ready.

How to convert DXF to SHP on QGIS 2.18

Quantum GIS is a powerful GIS application that has many features. On this tutorial, I am going to show you how to convert DXF file to ESRI SHP file using QGIS. I am using QGIS version 2.18.10 on this tutorial.

In order to save or convert the DXF file, we need to open it first on QGIS. Read this post if you need a guide on how to open DXF file on QGIS. Now, I assume you have opened the DXF file in QGIS and we are ready to export the file as SHP file.

Go to Layer | Save As

Select ESRI SHP from the format list. And then browse to the location to save the file and give it a new name. Click OK to start the process.

Open Google Earth KML on Global Mapper 17.0

Global Mapper is a great GIS software that supports many GIS formats including Google Earth (KML and KMZ) format. On this tutorial, I am going to show you how to open Google Earth KML file on Global Mapper 17.0. Please note that we do not provide the download link for Global Mapper 17.0 Full version or crack version. I will only provide the tutorial for Global Mapper.

To open a KML file, go to File | Open Data from Global Mapper menu.

You may need to change the file type if you don't see your KML file listed. Click Open to open the file.

QGIS Tutorial-How to open Mapinfo File

This tutorial is going to show you how to open Mapinfo Table or Mapinfo file into Quantum GIS (QGIS). QGIS supports various external file formats including Mapinfo TAB file as well. 

Example:

Before we open Mapinfo Table, make sure you have a complete Mapinfo file set. One Mapinfo Table consist of 4 files with different extensions. If you don't have them, you wont be able to open the Table in QGIS. 

To open a Mapinfo Table on QGIS, do the following:

1. Go to Layer and Click Add Layer
2. Click Add Vector Layer (If the Mapinfo file is vector)
3. Click File from the Source Type
4. Browse the Mapinfo file and press OK

 Now the layer should be opened on QGIS main window.

Install QGIS 2.18 On Ubuntu 16.04

The latest stable version on Quantum GIS (QGIS) 2.18 codename Las Palmas has been released a while ago. It comes with many improvements, bug fixes and performance upgrade. This tutorial will guide you to install QGIS 2.18 on Ubuntu 16.04 and all derivatives. This tutorial also applied to other Ubuntu version such as Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.

Here my QGIS 2.18 on my Ubuntu 16.04. 

QGIS is a user friendly Open Source Geographic Information System (GIS) licensed under the GNU General Public License. QGIS is an official project of the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo). It runs on Linux, Unix, Mac OSX, Windows and Android and supports numerous vector, raster, and database formats and functionalities.

Steps to install QGIS 2.18 on Ubuntu 16.04

Step 1. Configure the repository

First we need to edit our Ubuntu repository. Add the following lines to /etc/apt/sources.list

deb http://qgis.org/debian xenial main
deb-src http://qgis.org/debian xenial main

If you don't know how to do it, this illustration below should helps.

 Step 2. Update repository and Install QGIS

Still in Terminal console, execute these two lines to start the installation

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install qgis python-qgis qgis-plugin-grass

Wait until the installation process completed. 

Once completed, QGIS can be launched through Dash menu. Enjoy QGIS on Ubuntu 16.04

How to clip data to polygon on Mapinfo Professional

Its been a while not write any post on this GIS blog. Here I just want to give a little update in How to clip data to polygon on Mapinfo Professional. Off course I have Encom Discover software integrated to my Mapinfo. Its pretty easy to clip data inside a polygon on Mapinfo.

Data Preparation

In order to cut or clip data to a polygon make sure we have the following layers opened in Mapinfo Professional:

• Data/layer to be clipped
• Polygon layer

The polygon must be saved in a separate file, not in cosmetic layer. 

Steps to clip data to polygon on Mapinfo

Step 1. Open the Tables (both the polygon and the data). See the following example

As you can see, I have point layer (blue) and polygon layer (red). I will cut the blue point layer with the red polygon. I will save data points inside the red polygon.

Step 2. Make sure you click/select the polygon to cut the data with. And then go to Discover | Object Editing | Clip to Polygon. 

The new window will open up and the select which table that will be clipped by the polygon. You may also need to specify the new file name. You can also change some options available on the left. When you press OK you will be asked to give the destination folder.

Saya saat ini sedang mengerjakan proyek foto udara menggunakan Drone di perusahaan tempat saya bekerja. Kami menggunakan DJI Phantom 3 Professional sebagai alat utama nya.
