GIS Tutorial–How to create XYZ data on Surfer 10

Hi see you again on my Free GIS Tutorial. On this occasion I will show you how to create an XYZ data on Surfer 10. Surfer is a powerful gridding and 3 dimensional data that can display XYZ data into an interesting features, 3D view, 3D mesh etc. OK, XYZ data is the most important thing on Surfer. So we need to have this XYZ data set up correctly before processing the data in Surfer.

To create XYZ data on Surfer, follow these procedures.

Step 1. Go to File > New > Worksheet

You will see a blank worksheet as in Microsoft Excel shown up. Now, you can see the X, Y and Z alphabet next to A, B and C.

Step 2. Enter your data into corresponding columns for each X, Y and Z. Usually, X contains easting or axis number while Y is the ordinate or northing and Z is the elevation or any other values.
